November 10, 2008 - "Road Warriors"

This has been a crazy season. You would think that a veteran team would play well @ home, but it has been the total opposite. I think we are more comfortable on the road. We feed off the crowd screaming and cursing at us.

I want to personnally thank the fans in Regina for giving me that little extra feul to my fire by talking bad about my mother and kids.  You people really showed who you are.

The next challenge is to go to Calgary and get a victory. There is no doubt in my mind that we can go into McMahon and accomplish our goal of getting a chance to play for another Grey Cup.

As I sit having a morning having a coffee reflecting on the regular season, I come to the conclusion that this season to this point has been a sucess. Why? I will tell you, we have made it to the playoffs, that's why. There are a couple teams who are packing there bags planning there offseason but we still have life. Last weekend in Calgary didn't go the way we planned because we didn't win and didn't get that home playoff game that we covetted. Does that mean we hang our heads and give up. No! Not at all. We go to Saskatchewan against a tough team in one of the most dreadful places to play and play our butts off to get the victory! I will let you in on a little secret, (wispering) playing at home doesn't guarantee that you win. The team that makes the least amount of mistakes will win and that's exactly what we plan to do.

I have to comment on the race for the receiving title between Ken-Yon and myself. I heard there was some talk of him being the best reciever in the league which that argument holds some validity. He is a great player and I take nothing from him but until another reciever sees as much double coverage and safety help as I do, we shouldn't even have that conversation about who is the best. You all know its #81! Late!

Regina is very tough place to play. We went into hostile territory and won a tough game. We didn't play our best football, but to go into that wasps nest and come away with a victory, is saying something about the make up of our team. I will say it again, we are starting to come together as a team. Our defense is playing probably their best football of the season. They kept us in the game with turnover after turnover.

Finally, I must say something about the throwing of beer cans. I don't know how it was initiated, but that's wrong. They need to realize that this is how we as players feed our families. It's bad enough we have to worry about getting our heads knocked off and injuries among other things. Getting hit by a beer can should not be on the list. I have a ton of respect for the majority of Saskatchewan fans, but for the few that were throwing cans, that's classless and ruins the reputation for all the rest.

This weeks game was a huge win for us (Lions) as a team. We finally put it all together when I counted. There were plenty of mistakes and miscues that could have kept us from getting the win. Big plays in all facets. We are starting to play like the BC Lions that everyone expected in the preseason. It was great win, but we know that going into Regina this week will be no easy task, but we are up for the challenge. See you in Regina!

We have to get better! That's the on going theme for th B.C. Lions! At times we can be very good, and at other times average at best. It was good to come back from the hamstring injury. I would have liked to have had a bigger impact on the game but that's how football is. One can't press to have an impact things, you have to have them come to you.

There are ten games left in this season and if we want to bring home the Cup, we must get Better!

The offseason is winding down and the ramp up to the 2008 season has begun. The Lions in the House and Junior Lions in the House programs have myself and a few other players are visiting high schools and elementry schools across the Lower Mainland. If you would like us to visit your scool contact the Lions Community Relations dept. This up coming season is going to be an exciting one. I'm in great shape, I'm training 4 days a week (and 1 day for golf). I've hire a speed coach named Yves McDavid and has me running some of the fastest times of my life. I'm prepared for another great season. I'm also I little more than a month away from the biggest day of my life. May 17 is my wedding date. Tracy and I are vigourosly preparing for the big day, getting flight and hotel information for family and freinds. 2008 is going to be a big year for the Simon family and we are looking forward to the challenge.

The Grey Cup is over and the Riders have won it all (what a shame)! Hey they deserved it. The offseason is now upon us and I have already begun training for 2008. I will been prepared for another big season and another big run for the cup in Montreal. I will be attending many different events all over the lower mainland and throughout B.C. Look for me and my teamates at your school and in your town.

Finally! It's game week and we know who we are playing. The preparation can begin. Saskatchewan played a pretty good game againt Calgary, by jumping on them early and the Stamps just couldn't recover. I look forward to this week. The Western final is exactly where we want to be as an organization. The ball is in our court and we are up too the challange.

Another week, another win! This weekend's game in Hamilton was an ugly one. First the weather was terrible cold & rainy, then at times we played like we were the 2-14 team. The good part was Dave Dickenson came in and threw a TD on his first play in 15 weeks. It was great to have him back in the huddle. I went over 1000 yards for the 5th season in a row and it felt god. Looking forward to this weekend's game against Calgary which is bobblehead night. Come and cheer on your Lions!

Another big win this past weekend against the hated Edmonton Eskimos but it wasn't easy, or we made it a lot harder than it had to be. The west seems to be shaping up quite nicely. One more win and we clinch first place. Going into Hamilton can be a very dangerous situation if we don't have our minds right. I think with our veteran leaders and the great coaching staff we will be prepared to play our best game of the season.
